Members

The Association is currently lead by the Steering Committee made up of Chairman, Lee True; Secretary, Faith Stuart; Director for Communications, Norma Hutner; Director for Budget and Education, Dave Hordyke; Director for Public Relations and Editorial Group Chairperson, Elizabeth Franklin; Director for Planning & Organization, Treasurer, Leroy McCampbell; Director at Large, Doug Johnson.

All Association Officers and Directors are non compensated positions.

As we continue to grow, more officers will be added. The Steering Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month.

Members are taxpayers and registered voters living in Fluvanna County. We do not ask anything but non-partisanship concerning the Association actions and representations to the elected officials and our members. Members are committed to supporting elected officials, attending county government meetings as often as possible, and participate in sharing their views, beliefs and opinions with your elected representatives. How will elected officials know what it is you want and need if you don't tell them?

From the three startup members we have grown to over 100 members by word of mouth since April 2008. Members receive informative emails currently. Members not on email are receiving mailings of the Summaries of the Board of Supervisors meeting Agendas, Minutes and issues that are being proposed, discussed or voted on. Members may want to attend each session for planning, discussion, hearing, and Public Comments before action is taken. Monthly member meetings are also scheduled, in a different part of the county each month.

We currently have members from all over the county. We are still actively recruiting members as we believe that of the current population of 26,000 only a very small percentage are heard on each taxpayer issue as indicated by the less than 20% of the eligible taxpayers voting and discussing these issues at meetings held by VA law for them to participate in the county government decision making on taxing the citizens.
